Background

About Kelly

Kelly received her Bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2005 and went on to earn her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2009. She has been practicing as a Physician Assistant for over 16 years in specialties including gastroenterology, urgent care, and family medicine.

As a former collegiate swimmer, health and wellness have always been part of her life. She builds treatment plans around what patients can actually stick with — not generic advice, but practical changes grounded in how their body responds to medication.

Outside of work, she loves cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Clinical Focus

Approach to care

Kelly has been practicing for 16 years, with time in gastroenterology, urgent care, and family medicine. That GI background is especially useful — she knows how the gut works, which matters when you're on a medication that affects appetite and digestion.

Her foundation in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech gives her a distinctive edge that complements her Physician Assistant training. Kelly understands the science behind how nutrition influences metabolism, body composition, and energy balance — and she uses that knowledge to guide patients toward sustainable changes that work alongside their medical treatment. For her, effective weight loss care has always been about more than a prescription; it is about building a plan that accounts for how patients eat, move, and live.

At PEAK, Kelly combines her clinical expertise with her nutrition background to take an approach that looks at how food moves through your body, not just what you eat. She works closely with each patient to build a plan that goes beyond medication — addressing how they eat, move, and manage the daily habits that drive long-term success. Her collaborative style means patients are never handed a protocol and sent on their way; Kelly monitors progress, adjusts treatment as needed, and ensures every step of the process is guided by evidence and based on the individual.
